Peta is an active and enthusiastic lawyer who has achieved a broad range of knowledge and experience practising in our Local Government, Planning & Environmental Law Section. With a focus on development appeals, Peta appears regularly as an advocate representing Councils in Land and Environment Court and Supreme Court proceedings, which involve a variety of environmental and planning issues. Recent cases include those involving environmental and biodiversity issues, complex subdivisions, items of heritage significance, commercial and mixed use development, social housing including boarding houses, seniors housing, childcare centres and educational establishments. Peta has also represented Councils in matters involving significant community involvement, and has experience in managing complex development appeals with increased community expectations.
Peta has also successfully represented Applicants in planning appeals and assisted individuals and developers to obtain consent and achieve their desired development. Peta’s expert knowledge and practical approach to the law assists clients to navigate the often complex planning regime without the stress associated with property development.
Peta joined Marsdens after graduating with Honours in Law and a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Wollongong University in 2001. Peta completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the College of Law in Sydney in 2002.
As a member of the Environmental Planning Law Association, Peta keeps abreast of the continuing developments in planning law. Peta often attends lunches and functions held by the Urban Development Institute of Australia and supports local community organisations by attending fund raising events.
Peta was born and raised the Wollongong area, where she has continued to reside. Peta is married with 2 children and is also involved in a range of junior sports and community activities, including regularly representing Marsdens in community and corporate running events. Peta enjoys spending time with her active family, and her holidays are usually spent camping, at the beach or at the snow.
