A young woman who was injured whilst working at Big W has successfully sued her employer in negligence, with the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory awarding more than $500,000 in damages.

On 28 December 2013, Mr Gassan Al Kammessy was walking with his young daughter in Westfield Shopping Centre, Liverpool. He was injured when he slipped and fell on a wet patch on the floor in a public area of the Centre. The accident was captured on CCTV footage, and occurred at 10:44 am.

A 25-year-old woman who was left severely brain damaged after an asthma attack, has been unsuccessful in her claim in negligence against the ambulance service, with the Supreme Court of Queensland finding no breach of duty of care.

On 6 April 2014, Mr Larry Bridge slipped on water lying on the floor of an underground car park at premises occupied by Coles and fell, and suffered significant injury. At the time of the incident Mr Bridge was pushing a trolley through the car park. He had momentarily stopped to answer his mobile phone and continued walking and pushing the trolley with one hand.

On 4 April 2016, Ms Antonietta Giudice attended a Bunnings Warehouse in Ashfield, together with a friend and her grandson, who was almost four years old at the time. Ms Giudice’s grandson was taken to the play area by her friend while Ms Giudice was inspecting some furniture. She heard her grandson distressed so she walked over to the play area. She opened the gate with her right arm, stepped forward, and tripped and fell, landing on her right wrist. She suffered two fractures and underwent surgery to insert plates and screws into her arm.

A young girl who was injured whilst holidaying on board the Pacific Jewel when she was hit on the head by falling ceiling panels, has been awarded more than $400,000 in damages.

In 1995, Matthew McDonald was born at Campbelltown Hospital under the care and management of obstetrician Dr S Ng. He is now 23 years of age. Matthew’s mother, Prudence, alleged that Matthew suffered a hypoxic event sustained during his birth causing him severe injury.
