Ben Brown | Associate
Ben is an Associate in Marsdens Law Group’s Criminal Law Department at our Campbelltown office, working alongside Partner Rylie Hahn-Hamilton.
Ben joined Marsdens in 2021 and has built his legal career exclusively within Criminal Law, progressing through roles as a Law Clerk, Graduate and Solicitor. He now represents clients across Sydney and regularly appears in the Local and District Courts, with a strong commitment to ensuring his clients are heard and their interests are robustly represented.
Criminal Law and Advocacy
Ben has experience across a range of criminal matters, with a particular focus on domestic and personal violence, property offences and traffic offences.
As an advocate, Ben is committed to providing clients with strong and determined representation. He understands that facing criminal charges can be an unfamiliar and stressful experience, and places importance on ensuring clients understand the process, their options and the potential consequences of their matter.
Ben takes a direct and client-focused approach to advocacy, working to understand the circumstances of each matter and ensuring his clients’ voices are properly heard before the Court.
Academic Excellence and Legal Experience
Ben completed his Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at UNSW in 2018, before completing his Bachelor of Laws in 2022.
He achieved Honours Class I for his dissertation examining the Presumption of Innocence and its changing nature within Australia, reflecting his strong academic interest in criminal justice and the principles underpinning the Australian legal system.
Following his studies, Ben completed his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW.
His career at Marsdens began in 2021, allowing him to develop his criminal law skills within the firm from the early stages of his professional career.
A Strong Local Connection
Ben has grown up in the Macarthur Region and attended Magdalene Catholic High School.
Before pursuing his legal career, Ben spent 10 years working with McDonald’s Australia, managing different restaurants throughout the Camden area. This experience provided him with valuable leadership, people-management and communication skills, as well as a strong connection to the local community.
His longstanding connection to Macarthur gives Ben a genuine understanding of the community in which he works and the people he represents.

For clients facing criminal charges, Ben provides determined advocacy, clear communication and a strong commitment to ensuring their position is properly presented to the Court.
His approach is straightforward — understand the circumstances, explain the legal position and available options clearly, and advocate strongly for his clients throughout the process.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys running with curated playlists and spending time with his family and friends.
