Co-Parenting Made Easy: Value in Parenting Apps
As the holiday season rolls in and the calendar fills with festive chaos, communication between you and your co-parent may become more frequent — and not always at the most convenient moments. If that feels a bit overwhelming, a parenting app could be a helpful way to keep everything organised and stress-free.
What is a parenting app?
A parenting app is a subscription based mobile or web application which allows caregivers to communicate effectively and consistently by regulating the use of respectful language and ensure parties are on the same page about the children.
In this article we discuss three of our favourites, but there are many available!
CoOperate
CoOperate is available on Google Play and the App Store. Parties can access a shared calendar, log attendance and location as well as store legal documents in the app. All communication between you and your co-parent can be logged, they are permanent and cannot be altered or deleted as a means of encouraging positive language. The app also has an expense tracker which can assist with joint finances.

App Close
App Close is available on Google Play and the App Store. The app has time-stamped and unalterable messaging, audio and video calls which do not reveal your phone number, custody schedules and a shared calendar. Another key feature is that it allows co-parents to invite third parties to their circle such as extended family or lawyers and share information regarding the children. The app also allows requests to change drop-off and pick up times or swap parenting days.

Our Family Wizard
Our Family Wizard is available on Google Play, the App Store and via web access. The key features of the app are that it has a shared calendar for parties to access, secured messaging, which is stored in the app, an expense tracker where receipts can be attached and documented video and audio calls which you can schedule within the app. There is a consent feature with the calls so you can choose when you wish to receive calls. The app also has a new feature called ToneMeter AI which flags negative language and suggests more respectful ways to write your messages.
The app also does offer a fee waiver for parties experiencing financial hardships but this is contingent on a successful fee waiver application.
